This coffee comes from Finca Medina; who has been growing coffee in Guatemala’s Antigua region since 1842. It’s a farm with a lot of history, and we love how they continue to care for their community and the land around them. Along with producing great coffee, they support their workers and families through things like training, education, healthcare, and various social activities within their community. Finca Medina turns coffee pulp and other farm byproducts into compost. The coffee pulp is collected and mixed with other natural materials from the farm, like leaves, sticks, and tree trimmings; they even reuse some of the water from wet-processing to keep the compost hydrated; it’s part of a bigger effort to keep the farm healthy and let the things that come from the land eventually make their way back to it. They also work with local smallholder producers, sharing resources and knowledge to help strengthen coffee farming in the area.
