When the Dutch smuggled green coffee seeds from Ethiopia to Yemen in the late 15th century, little did they know they were about to give the world one of its most unique coffees. Years of adaptation to lack of rainfall and really high elevation (>6,000 ft above sea level) have made coffee from here some of the sweetest you’ll ever taste. We’ve partnered with Rayyan Mill in the capital of Sana’a to bring this exotic coffee to you. They work directly with farmers in Yemen to help with farming and processing their coffees. Civil war and rough terrain contribute to the price, but we think the uniqueness of the flavors and knowing each bag you buy directly helps a Yemeni farmer will more than justify the cost.
